Epic Repic Reporter

This month: we put on our thinking caps and imagined what it would be like to interview Mother Nature!

I control the weather and look after all living things on this planet.

Recycling is very important because this planet is our home. It’s not just home to humans either, it’s home to animals and all living things so there’s a big responsibility to help look after it and make sure it doesn’t get filled with man-made rubbish. If we don’t take care of the environment, we will make it worse for future generations and the world won’t be a very nice place to live.

I have my own team of natural recyclers like snails, slugs, beetles and worms who break down fallen leaves, grass and kitchen waste into compost. Compost contains important nutrients that improve the soil and help our plants and trees to grow healthily. If humans work together and encourage each other to recycle their man-made resources this will help to keep the World a happy and healthy place to live in for years to come.

Calling all WEEE Warriors! Spring is the season to throw open the windows, let some fresh air in, and make our homes clean, happy and efficient spaces!

Most people throw their old electricals away when they’re finished with them or they end up as clutter at the back of a cupboard and never get the chance to be recycled into something new.

9 million homes in the UK have never recycled an old or broken electrical item – that’s almost the population of Sweden!

Why not become a WEEE Warrior and help spread the word to recycle old electricals!

When tidying your bedroom or helping out your friends and family with their spring cleaning have a think about whether you have any old toys, gadgets or games consoles that need recycling.

When you’re spring cleaning and you find old electrical items, if the item is still working, you can take it to a local charity or to a re-use organisation in the area. If the item is broken, it can be taken to a local household waste-recycling centre.
